Our Engagement with ITDC

Do you know how and why some organizations reach the peak of perfection? The answer is simple, they manage not only their customers well but also their internal working systems, their employees, and their vendors smoothly.

But that’s not all, even they have to plan and execute their operations in a fruitful manner which also is a challenge for them. In India, there are many such firms who have evolved and succeeded beyond belief. One such organization is the government-run ITDC, do you know when it was established? Well, this is one of the maiden organizations of India established in 1966.

About ITDC

ITDC abbreviated for Indian Tourism Development Corp. Ltd. is a public sector enterprise run by the Government of India. From the name, you can make out that this enterprise deals with the tourism industry vertical. They not only run hotels, transportations but also have their own operated stores where they sell imported and their own produced goods, duty-free items and public distribution reading material.
Across India, they operate in all historical, spiritual and tourist-attracting cities, villages etc., they provide the best tourist services right from a small village like Koyna to metro city like Chennai. One of its division is the AITD – Ashok International Trade Division, this enterprise is solely involved in running duty-free shops at ‘Seaports’. As of today, they have 12 such shops and they have schemes to launch more such shops down the road.

Buying and selling Management – the big question mark

This enterprise is running for like decades in our country successfully, but with the advancements in technology, this enterprise is facing the heat of moving from their legacy management systems to the advanced online management.
Today, this enterprise may fall behind in the race if they don’t keep the pace and most importantly, if they don’t modernize. Renovation in terms of technology, going mobile and swift management of these stores will not keep them in the race but also attract more and more tourists to our heritage and tradition.

The enterprise AITD primarily deals in purchasing goods, generating invoices of the purchases, pricing, updating the currency exchange rates, promotion implementation, inventory management of the duty-free shops. The financial transactions of ATDC are done and even shown in either INR (rupees) or the US dollars.
To manage, synchronize, and integrate all these business needs under one roof, the compulsion for a system which will be responsive, appealing and flexible was of the essence.
